BT provides the UK's most reliable broadband technology. The next generation Full Fibre can reach speeds of up to a whopping 900Mb, which is essentially changing the rules of the game. How can they possibly achieve as much as 25 times higher speeds? Essentially they are replacing the slower copper cables that connect your home to the street cabinet, using the same sort of fibre connection from the BT exchange to your door. Genius.
Full fibre lets you do more with more devices at the same time, and also cuts down the waiting time needed for stuff like films to load on your computer. Take a look on their website and check if the service is already available in your area. If it isn't, you're certain to find a regular broadband plan suitable for your needs.
For instance, the essential broadband package gives you speeds from 6Mb to 14Mb with 1Mb upload for just £27 a month. All BT plans are for a minimum of 24 months, plus with the Complete Wi-Fi option, you get guaranteed coverage in every room. This includes the new Smart Hub 2 and a Wi-Fi Disc, which is usually enough to cover an average home. If you need more boosting power, they'll send you two additional discs free of charge. And if you're still not satisfied, they'll refund you £100.
If your needs fall squarely between the essential broadband package and the full fibre option, then you have to try BT's range of fibre broadband. The Fibre Essential connection starts with average download speeds of 36Mb, and the line of services has four further upgrades that on average run at 50, 67, 145 and 300Mb. If ultrafast connection speed is key to you, take out the stay Fast Guarantee and have peace of mind of knowing someone is constantly checking and optimising your connection.
Whether you're after superfast Internet or a regular connection, with the BT Broadband offers we have highlighted for you on this page, you are certain to get the best deal for the most popular and fastest service in the country.
If you're looking for fast Internet connection at home, you won't find any faster than this. Having trouble with your current provider or simply dissatisfied with the speeds you get? In that case, you should get on the phone and arrange to switch to BT. The process is as simple as 1, 2, 3 and the downtime in your connection shouldn't be more than half an hour on the day of your switch.
Before you go ahead, weigh your needs with the options they offer and choose the plan that is right for you. If you are an avid gamer, the Pro Gaming deal is perfect for you, as it ensures stable latency and super reliable connection with the new Smart Hubs and wi-fi boosting discs. Plus you could add a landline to your deal with customised international call fees and flexible call rates.
And you can make it all so much easier (and ever so smart!) with BT Halo. Combine 4G technology with fibre broadband and take advantage of the Keep Connected promise, which means if you have a problem with your broadband, they'll send you a 4G mini hub to keep you connected. You'll also have access to technical support seven days a week with two-hour slots that effectively mean you don't have to sit around waiting.
Whether you're looking for a new mobile phone or quicker broadband, we have a BT Broadband offer for you on this page that will improve your connectivity and be gentle to your wallet, all at the same time.
BT Broadband & Mobile is a subdivision of the wider British Telecom Group, in charge of providing broadband, cable and mobile network services to BT customers. As part of the country's largest broadband provider, BT Broadband & Mobile provides fibre or full fibre services to a staggering 99% of the territory, and the superb network infrastructure assures you the fastest connection possible.
Switching to BT Broadband if you are already with another provider is easier than it might think. You'll need to choose the service you want and they will arrange a switching date with you, normally within 2 weeks of you contacting them. It doesn't matter if you're with Sky, TalkTalk, Virgin or any other competitor, in most cases your downtime will not exceed 30 minutes. Plus, if you're getting BT TV, you'll be able to start watching from the get go!
In terms of mobile phones, you can get handsets and SIM only plans with BT, and naturally, you can get very attractive deals on your monthly contract. The company's 4G network is second to none, and the whole infrastructure has been boosted by the purchase of EE in 2016. If you already have broadband with the company and switch to the mobile network too, you'll get an extra £5 discount on your monthly plan.
If you like a freebie, you'll love this too: did you know you can get online for free at more than 5 million BT wi-fi hotspots nationwide? Well, you do now! Whether you're already a customer and wish to get more services or you are considering switching from a different provider, take a good look at the BT Broadband deals we have listed here for you and get great savings when you join the most popular operator in the country.
BT Broadband & Mobile are part of the consumer arm of the BT Group, the country's first telecommunications company. BT has obviously been around forever, or what amounts to the same thing, since 1846, when the Electric Telegraph company was first established. Luckily we no longer need to use coded electrical pulses to communicate with one another, but that was the origin of BT!
For more than 100 years, the British telecommunications service supplier was part of the state-owned General Post Office, until BT was spun off in 1980. There was no mobile or broadband technology at the time, of course, but BT started becoming the company it is today when the government floated 50.2% of its share on the market in 1991. Full privatisation came in 1993, by which time mobile technology was beginning to flourish.
BT has fared alright in the open market since then. Their broadband and mobile services are part of the BT Consumer division, which since 2013 has dealt specifically with individual customers. Before that, it was part of BT Retail, which also included business relations and covered demands from the public sector. BT Consumer continues to have the largest customer base in the UK, reaching approximately 18 million clients.
