Red Letter Days have been the pioneers of unforgettable gift experiences since 1989. They have gift ideas to suit every age, every budget and every type of interest.
Red Letter Days started in 1989 and were pioneers of the gift pack. Their unforgettable experiences as a gift box and unusual gifts caught people's imagination. They were helping people give a gift experience that would be hard to forget! They have something to suit every taste, occasion and budget.
Rather than giving an object as a present, they wanted people to make a memory. Many of their experiences are extremely unique and once in a lifetime, like their Spitfire Passenger Flight.
This is what makes them the nation's go-to for gift ideas.
They were founded in 1989 by former Dragons' Den entrepreneur Rachel Elnaugh, who developed the idea for Red Letter Days after creatively packaging cricket tickets to give to her father.
The business started taking off when she decided to place brochure inserts into national newspapers and magazines in the run-up to Christmas 1990.
Her fellow Dragon's Den entrepreneurs, Theo Paphitis and Peter Jones, in 2005 decided to buy the remaining assets and goods after she went into receivership. They made this decision while drunk! Yes. It's true! they admitted it on a TV show. Just goes to show not all drunken decisions are bad!
Since 2005, it has continued to offer a wide range of unforgettable experiences and gift ideas, some of which include sky diving, car racing, hot air ballooning, white water rafting (not for the faint-hearted) and relaxing spa days (for the less adventurous that just want to switch off for the day). The company has gone from strength to strength.
They decided to quit while they were ahead and take their money, so they sold Red Letter Days to the French multinational The SmartBox Group who also have other brands such as Buyagift and Dakotabox.
